Why you NEVER piss off a woman who can work heavy equipment

About ME

image

My name is Brandie Blackwell and I'm married to my wonderful husband Brise (shtowing9301). We've been married almost 3 years and we've been together 10. I live in Mobile, AL and I'm in (slow) progress of my Masters of Business Administration in Business Management.

My Hobbies

I have a wonderful family and great friends that I love to spend time with and do things with. I'm my husband's secretary which can be pretty hectic at times, sometimes I think I'm a phone book but I love him and support him so that's what I'm here for. My favorite things are to do is to be out on the water, grilling out, fishing, being outdoors, traveling, taking care of my beautiful little nephew, and anything far away from the smell of diesel.

I'm on here to just look around to see what everyone is up to and how everyone is doing. My husband is on here all the time, his father owns a heavy duty towing company in Mobile. I may not be a veteran of towing but I've been around the towing world for over 10 years.

A lot of men have a real problem with the fact I'm a woman or think that I can't know what I'm talking about. I think it's funny because I'm not just the office worker, I've worked my ass off on the side of the road. I've helped in the heat, in the rain, and in the cold. I've been there for hours working at wreck scenes on the side of the road. I've helped build wreckers, I've answered phones, I've recruited new customers, I've been screamed at by everyone--my Father-in-Law, my husband, customers, police officers and anyone who needs to use my ears as a way to vent their problems, I've seen trucks built from nothing, I've been to Miller, I've helped rig up equipment, I've been the errand runner, I've had to be the one to make things happen when times are tough. I've had to deal with family problems and still have to stand right beside my husband and grin and bare it. I've been the one to help load equipment, get in knee high mud (and mess up my pedi and favorite flip flops!) to get the job done, and of course I've had my most favorite outfits ruined because our night out turns into a state call. And other than quietly mentioning I'm owed a new pair of Yellow Box flip flops or a trip to Dillard's, I suck it up. I do what it takes to get the job done and do what needs to be done the business. This is my husband's life and I choose to support him so sometimes I shovel and broom and a work shirt are the "it" fashion for me, LOFL.

I've been put to work many times and although I might lose in an argument over towing numbers and towing weights, I guarantee you are not above me. You may know certain things in certain areas better than I do but don't EVER think of me as being below you. I will have no problem setting you straight. Those who think they are all knowledgeable are usually the ones who are unknowingly making complete asses of themselves and I love to sit back and laugh.

We have some of the best customers in the world. I actually know the people we work for, I've met their families and know about their lives. I know more about them than just the address to send the bill to. We don't chase after other companies customers but it is a real shame that other towing companies in the area chase after ours. I find it humorous when other towing companies go bouncing into our customer's office with their cool tri-fold flyers and business cards. I love it even more when they drop off things like coffee cups and hats. It usually take less than an hour or so for the customers to call and tell us the good news. They even have a line I love, "Tell Brandie we've got a new coffee cup for her collection." Even the descriptions they give of the ones who come promoting their business, "He was a tall, lanky guy named **** or ****** from ***** towing" it just tickles me!

Other than that I really get along with people, I love meeting new people and getting to know people. I'm the kind of person that when I meet you, you have a clean slate with me. I don't care what you've done to other people and what you've done before. What matters is what kind of person you are to me and my family. I'm also the kind of person that if you screw up or screw me over, you've burnt your bridge and that's the end--I'm done with you. It sounds harsh but I'm one of the most nicest, friendliest, and caring people you'll meet but I'm learned the hard way, even at my young age, how people can be and how people can treat you, your family, and your friends. Some of the best people I've ever known have been in the towing industry, and on the other hand some of the worst monsters I've ever met have been in the towing industry but it's like that anywhere in all walks of life. It is nice to be around people who know how you feel and understand what you've been through.
